Disney's Pop Century Resort

Since Tammy works for Walt Disney World, she occasionally gets to stay at new resorts before they open as a "test" for the Cast Members working at the resort. We stayed one night at the Pop Century Resort on December 9, 2003 (the resort opened on December 14th).

We stayed in room 9116 in the Eighties building. This is a "Value" resort. To be honest, we didn't really enjoy the test stay, because the room was pretty small, and the air conditioning wasn't working properly. I guess that's why they call it a "test" :-)

It was still nice to be able to stay at the hotel before it opened, and we did walk all around the resort to see what was there, and to take a bunch of pictures. The pictures are below.

Here are some stats of the resort (Classic Years 1950s - 1990s):

  • Theming/Description: Disney’s Pop Century Resort is a celebration of 20th Century pop culture. The larger-than-life icons, featured at the resort, "preserve" the toys, fads, dance crazes, catch phrases, and the way we communicated in the 20th Century. How we lived. How we played. How we celebrated. These stories and many others are all here for future generations to discover. Guests have the opportunity to live and play inside these unique time capsules – to experience the pop culture of our century like never before.
